Caught Ploy at the festival today. Pen-ek really goes into Bunuel kinda surrealism in this one. It’s almost on par with The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie’s play with dreams and reality.

1st Layer:
When the dreamy pace of the first 3/4 of the film breaks into a rape/action sequence
2nd Layer:
When it shifts into a musical with the character staring right at the audience.
3rd Layer:
Actually physically present in the theatre rather than a construct of film mechanisms. There were a bunch of uni student types who were obviously stoned for the wrong movie. They were laughing at every single thing, making comments and continuously munching. A total distraction that brings me out of my immersion in the film. So many people turned to stare at them during the ending credits. This guy even started scolding/ranting at them. Real action drama! 1000% filmic realism. Rather than saying “I caught a good film”, it would be “i was in the right theatre”.
